Kamrav still has the unstyled Namibian hospitality that you can’t learn at any hotel management school, because it comes from the heart. The hosts are Maryna and Toit, and their dog Bully. The farming family’s life is centered here, in the middle of the Namibian savannah landscape.

The hosts know a lot about the country and its people, and of course about farm life.

The family has lived here for three generations – since 1928 – so you can learn a lot about the differences between life in Namibia then and now. If you don’t know this farm, you’ll never get lost there, because it’s off the beaten tourist track near the Waterberg. This gem doesn’t appear in any glossy magazines, and it doesn’t appear in any travel brochures. Kamrav is still the way guest farms used to be. “Once” means before the tourism boom in Namibia.

Who hasn’t dreamed of staying on a farm in Africa, far away from all the hustle and bustle, transported to a time that seems so infinitely far removed from the present. To a time when you had to do a lot of things yourself to live self-sufficiently. On the Kamrav guest farm, around 70 km southwest of Grootfontein, the bread is still baked in-house , delicious, fragrant cakes are taken fresh out of the oven almost every day, and the kudu roast simmers on the old wood-fired stove, giving off an appetizing smell. There are no flavor enhancers or ready meals in this farm kitchen. Even at breakfast you are more than spoiled, with eggs, bacon, sausage, the best jam. strongly recommend to eat there.
This is how a good day can start!

A Family owned farm run by a charming Lady and a very good cook. There are Shady campsite with braai place, electricity and a super clean ablution block, but there are also 4 nice rooms available. Ideal if you want to relax and learn about Namibia and the history.strongly recommend to eat there. Its all fresh and prepared with dedication.

WIFI-connection at the farmhouse for free

The old farm building with a covered bar and dining area invites you to linger. You are surrounded by many Namibian memorabilia: calabashes, baskets, masks and ostrich eggs attract attention. In the newly built thatched guest house, attractive rooms await visitors. In a large room in front of the house, you can even cook yourself in a kitchen corner or sit on comfortable armchairs and the couch. Right next door there is a wonderful swimming pool. From here, the view sweeps into the distance, and a light breeze often blows on the hill, which is very pleasant in the hot Namibian summer. For campers, there are beautiful pitches on the Kamrav site with sparkling clean sanitary facilities, electricity, water connections and barbecue facilities. They can also find “family time” with the hosts, if desired. On the farm tours offered, you can experience Africa at its purest and “hear” the silence of the vast savannah landscape.

You can see oryxes, kudus, springboks, white-tailed wildebeests and blesboks.

There are also cattle and horses on the farm. Trips to the Hoba meteorite and the Waterberg are also possible. Children can let off steam to their heart’s content on Kamrav, in the large fenced area around the farmhouse they can play with the good-natured family dog or watch the koi in the pond. And if the parents want to go on a trip to the Hoba meteorite without the little ones or travel to Etosha for two days: “Grandma Maryna” will not only look after them, but will look after them lovingly. And when the parents then come back and want to travel on, the offspring will often find it difficult to say goodbye to this great “playground” with animals, space and wilderness.
