Nyanza Guest Cottages, self-catering accommodation on a working farm in the tranquil Malkerns Valley, Swaziland

 Nyanza Farm has been owned and run by our family for over 50 years. On it we have our guest cottages and family lodge, riding school and horse trails, a Jersey dairy herd and lots of farmyard animals and dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes. A lot of our animals are rescue animals and many of them have a story to tell.

Nyanza Guest Cottages are on a working farm in the picturesque and tranquil Malkerns Valley and is a haven for families, animal and nature lovers.

Our two cottages are located in a quiet, secluded part of the farm, both with their own spacious private garden. Our visitors have the choice if they would like to just relax in the quiet tranquillity of their gardens and enjoy the wonderful views or come up to the farmyard and visit all the animals.

We have a small shelter and a lot of our animals are rescue cases but are now safe and happy here at Nyanza and would love to share their stories with you.

We have many friendly farmyard animals who enjoy visitors, as well as the herd of Jersey cows who are milked twice a day in the parlour.

There is also a lot to enjoy nearby without having to travel far, as well as just relaxing on the farm and enjoying the atmosphere!

For those who like to go out and about we are ideally situated and are central to most of the tourist attractions, including the craft and curio shops. Swaziland’s Game Parks are within easy reach, and there are many nice places to eat out at nearby and shopping centres not far away.

Adventure Sports and Cultural Tours are easily arranged.

We are also the perfect stopover for those travelling between Mpumalanga and Mozambique or Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Being located in the Middleveld our climate is mild, and our area is considered to be free of Malaria.

We also have a riding school here at Nyanza and riding lessons and pony rides are usually available here on the farm during the week and weekends by prior arrangement from our stable of well-schooled horses.

Please note we no longer have horse trails available at Nyanza but they can be booked at Chubeka Trails (Big Game Parks) nearby.

We also do not have televisions, bar or restaurant facilities. There is no air conditioning but the rooms have fans or heaters depending on the season.

We have a couple of options available for accommodation.

Accommodation

THE COTTAGES

We have two cottages, of which both are fully equipped as a home and are perfect for self-catering.

Each has two bedrooms, the main bedroom with a double bed and a single bed, and the other one with two singles. Both have en-suite bathrooms.

One of the cottages also has a sleeper couch in the lounge that can make a double or two single beds. For groups or families who require them, we can easily add more extra beds as the rooms are large.

Each cottage has a lounge and dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a spacious veranda with a wonderful view. There are braai facilities at each cottage.

Please note the cottages are designed for self-catering; we do not supply any food or drinks. There are however several nice places to eat out at within easy access if you would prefer not to cook.

THE FAMILY LODGE

Our Family Lodge is up at the top near the main farmhouse.

This can be rented as an entire unit or each room separately. It consists of;

One Double room, with an extra bed for a third person/child, and en-suite bathroom. It has a small kitchenette in the corner with a fridge, two ring cooker, kettle, toaster and eating utensils.

One Dormitory with 6 bunk beds and a bathroom. There is a small kitchen with cooking facilities, fridge, kettle, toaster and utensils.

There are also braai facilities at the Family Lodge.

Our farm is perfect for family holidays. The whole family has the opportunity to enjoy the environment that accompanies everything we do here. Many families spend their entire holiday here on the farm, just enjoying the atmosphere. We have many families now who come back regularly to the farm to visit us and all their favorites.
